Dr. Nneka Jones Tapia is an experienced psychologist who is passionate about mental wellness, criminal justice reform, and supporting young people who have experienced trauma.

Since our launch in 2016, Chicago Beyond has invested in and partnered with local organizations that take innovative and holistic approaches to support Chicago’s youth such as Storycatchers Theatre and Lawndale Christian Legal Center. Today, Dr. Jones Tapia permanently joins the team at Chicago Beyond to lead Justice Initiatives, our newest line of work dedicated to systems-level change. Justice Initiatives will focus specifically on systems-level change and shifting the understanding and narrative around individuals impacted by the justice system. The dedicated line of work will include raising awareness about the impact of incarceration and investing in preventative and early interventions.
