Holistic Safety Impact Report

Evidence for More Urgent, Humane, and Inclusive Corrections Reform

To assess the impact of our work with correctional systems, Chicago Beyond partnered with Openfields to conduct independent research, analyze available data, and synthesize findings related to the Holistic Safety Framework. Openfields served as the external evaluator responsible for measuring the effectiveness of Chicago Beyond’s Holistic Safety initiatives.

Holistic Safety Impact Report

A 2025 report from Openfields found that the application of Chicago Beyond’s Holistic Safety Framework has begun to create positive change. By directly addressing entrenched ways of working, centering trust and humanity, and creating space for new ideas, leaders are able to improve safety in jails and prisons.
