Growing up on Chicago’s South Side, Chicago Beyond’s Innovation Manager, Steve Gates, found his life closely touched by violence.  In this article, he shares his journey from his youth, to earning his master’s degree in social work from the University of Chicago, to working with ChicagoCRED to joining Chicago Beyond.
